Other ways to save money when booking your holiday:

Book Early

Consider booking as soon as possible, you can tend to get better deals if you book as early as possible.
As a general rule the cheapest time to book is at least 11 months before your holiday, but if you can’t manage to plan that far in advance look out for special deals throughout the year.

Don’t Buy Unnecessary Extras

Have a very fixed idea what you want from your holiday and don’t be tempted by the extras you will be offered, taking advantage of these could add £100’s to the price of your holiday.

School Holidays

If you need to book your holiday for the school holidays then you’ll find that the last week of August and first week of September are usually the cheapest times for a holiday during this period.

It is however getting more popular for families opt to wait until the October half-term break for a week away, as this is still not used by many you can be sure to beat the crowds and get yourself a cheaper deals.

Haggle

Many tour operators will price match, so it’s always worth doing your research first and if you can show that you can get a like-for-like holiday cheaper elsewhere then it gives you room for a small amount of haggling.

Even if they say they can’t beat the deal, they might be able to offer other incentives or discounts that might be useful to you – such as free kids places, free kids meals, discounted airport parking etc

Flexible Holiday Dates

Try to be flexible for your start and end date by just a couple of days, as a day or two either side of you preferred date may be slightly cheaper.

Pre-Book Your Airline Extras

Some items cost more if you book them on the day - extra baggage, airport transfers and airport parking can cost a lot more if you wait until you are at the airport, up to twice as much! – so book these well in advance.

Package deal or Separate Hotel and Flights

Package deals can be very convenient, everything you need in just a single booking, and in fact for popular destinations package deals may save you money; but it is always worth you pricing up the hotel and flight separately with different operators as you may be able to save money – this is particularly useful if you are travelling to a less popular or more unusual destination or taking a city break.
